ITEC Anatomy & Physiology Diploma

Introduction
The course will provide you with a strong foundation and understanding of the human anatomy, physiology and pathology.

Exclusively to Unity, it also introduces the application of that knowledge to the practice of yoga, massage and other therapies.

The diploma is a necessary qualification for all major ITEC Therapy practitioners. Along with guided home study, the course includes 9 training days.

The learning style for these is fun and relaxed, and includes a meditation, relaxation or yoga session designed to help with your comfort, learning and recall.

The course is facilitated by Christine Brown Cert. Ed, a CIPD-qualified trainer with over 2O years experience in education, complementary therapy, personal development, health and wellness. Since first running this course in 2OO6, Unity have enjoyed an 87% success rate of students passing the exam. The course begins on January 9th 2O11 and finishes with the exam on Friday 5 August 2O11.

The ITEC level 3 Diploma in Anatomy and Physiology – units 30-40
QCA Quantification Accreditation Number 100/2412/8

Course Entry Requirements
ITEC recommends that the candidates hold at least 5 GCSE at grade A to C or equivalent, however, this is not essential and other relevant experience or qualifications may be considered as relevant and alternative entry requirements. This decision is at the discretion of principal of the Unity Natural Health. The course requires dedication and a strong commitment to study with up to 180 hours of personal study required during the course.

Examination Entry Requirements
To be eligible to enter the ITEC Anatomy & Physiology examination, each student needs to have met all the entry criteria:

Attendance at all lectures*
Successful completion of all personal study including pre-reading and assignments
Successful completion of classroom assignments
Successful completion of mock examinations
Payment of all course and examination fees

Tracking your progress on the course
Each student will have the opportunity to attend one to one sessions with the Teacher to discuss their progress and to ensure they are keeping up with the necessary study and assignments. This is also an opportunity to discuss any aspect of the course to ensure success.

Course Duration & Hours
The course will consist of a minimum 64 guided learning hours in the form of course attendance. In addition there will be other guided learning assignments, plus individual student revision and research of approximately 5 hours per week for the duration of the course.

Duration Of The Course Lecture Days
10.00am – 5.00pm (6 hours) with a one hour break for lunch and additional breaks during the day.

*Missed Course Lectures
Attendance is mandatory at all lecture days, however, in the event that a student is unavoidably unable to attend a full or part day, they will be expected to catch up on any missed work. Two hour catch up sessions should be booked with the Teacher for each topic missed. The cost of these two hour sessions is £50.

Text Books
There are a number of excellent books available to support the student during the course which will also serve them well after they graduate and as they continue to build their professional knowledge and skills as a Yoga Teacher, Massage Practitioner or Holistic Therapist.

Students will need to purchase a copy of the latest edition of ‘An Introductory Guide to Anatomy & Physiology’ with really useful CD ROM, by Louise Tucker ISBN 978-1-903348-28-4. The cost is approximately £15 plus p&P and can be obtained via EMS Publishing: http://www.emspublishing.co.uk/?p=95 and from other major book stores.
